Mamta Banerjee should clarify her stand on NRC, says BJP chief Amit Shah in Kolkata

While addressing a rally of Bhartiya Janta Yuva Morcha (BJYM) in Kolkata, BJP Chief Amit Shah has accused the West Bengal Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee of creating confusion regarding the NRC issue.

He also referred to the Mamta Banerjee’s stand on her objection to the ‘illegal immigrants’ in the parliament in 2005 and blamed her for taking a U-turn to score the political points appeasing a particular community.

Amit Shah further added that those who would seek the asylum would be allowed to stay here. He said that the ‘The Citizenship (Amendment) Bill brought out the Modi government in 2016 has provisions to provide the citizenship to Hindus, Buddhists, and Christians who have come from the Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Pakistan.

BJP Chief Amit Shah also exhorted the people to root out the Trinamool Congress from the West Bengal, and said that the people of Bengal have given the opportunity to the communists and the TMC, they should also give a chance to the BJP as well.

While on the other hand, the TMC workers observed a “black day” in protest against the NRC and carried out various rallies in the various parts of the state accusing the BJP of robbing the Indians from their citizenship.

Reacting to the protest carried out the TMC, Babul Supriyo, the BJP leader and the minister in the Modi cabinet, lambasted at the TMC and Mamta Banerjee accusing her of destroying the culture and youth of Bengal.

He also exclaimed that the heavy turn out in the rally of Amit Sah Ji reflects the disenchantment of the people of Bengal towards the misrule of the TMC government, and added that the youth of Bengal are eagerly waiting for the message of Amit Sah Ji.

Refuting the charge, the TMC said in a statement, “The BJP has just concluded another flop show in #Bangla led Amit Shah. After the flop meeting, the BJP is looking for excuses. They are saying their meeting was blacked out. Blackouts and blackmailing are what the BJP does. Do not insult the media. All showed. We challenge BJP. Either they prove it or resign”.
